Lord Shiva Hindu Temple

Lord Shiva Hindu Temple was established on June 4th, 2011 by Avi Sharma to provide a spiritual home for the Hindu community in Amsterdam. Recognizing the challenges faced by Indian expats and Hindu devotees in finding a place to connect with their faith abroad, the temple was created as a sanctuary where devotees could offer prayers and participate in religious events. Located in Zuidoost, Amsterdam, the temple has grown into a vibrant spiritual center that embodies multiple deities under one roof, with Lord Shiva as the main deity. The temple houses several sacred deities including Lord Ganesha, Maa Durga, Maa Saraswati, Ram Sita, Shree Hanuman, Maa Kaali, and Radha Krishna, along with a sacred Shivlinga. Daily worship services include morning and evening aartis at 8:00 AM and 7:00 PM, with free prasad distribution every evening at 7:20 PM. The temple welcomes devotees throughout the day from 7:30 AM to 8:30 PM, seven days a week. Weekly bhajan nights are held every Friday at 7:00 PM, inviting all community members to participate in devotional singing and spiritual practices. Beyond daily worship, the temple serves as a cultural hub celebrating major Hindu festivals including Mahashivaratri, Gita Jayanti, Makar Sankranti, and other significant occasions. The temple also offers home pooja services throughout the Amsterdam area, making religious ceremonies accessible to families who cannot visit the temple. With free entry and a welcoming atmosphere, Lord Shiva Hindu Temple continues to provide solace, foster community connections, and facilitate religious practices for Hindu devotees seeking divine connection in the Netherlands.
