ISKCON of Atlanta, also known as the Atlanta Hare Krishna Temple, stands as the first Krishna community established in Georgia and the southeastern United States. The temple's journey began in 1971 when its first location opened on 13th Street in Midtown Atlanta. In 1974, it moved to its current home at 1287 South Ponce de Leon Avenue and was officially established by ISKCON's Founder-Acharya, His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada, who lovingly named it New Panihati Dham. During his 1975 visit, Srila Prabhupada was deeply moved by the Gaura-Nitai Deities and personally guided devotees in spiritual practices, moments that remain cherished in the community's history. As a spiritual and cultural center, ISKCON of Atlanta is dedicated to sharing the timeless wisdom of the Vedic scriptures and the practice of Bhakti Yoga. The temple serves as a sacred space for spiritual growth, offering daily worship services, deity darshan, and various spiritual programs throughout the week. Visitors can participate in traditional ceremonies, attend philosophical classes, and experience the devotional atmosphere that has made this temple a spiritual home for seekers across the Atlanta metropolitan area. The temple also hosts major festivals including Ratha Yatra and Panihati Mahotsav, bringing together the broader community in celebration. For Indian expats and spiritual seekers in Atlanta, ISKCON of Atlanta provides more than just a place of worship. It offers a welcoming community where individuals can connect with their cultural and spiritual roots, find fellowship with like-minded devotees, and experience the peace and love taught through the teachings of Lord Krishna. As the region's longest-standing ISKCON center and home to the first Gaura-Nitai and Radha-Krishna Deities in Georgia, the temple continues to serve as a beacon of spiritual light for all who seek understanding and growth on their spiritual journey.
