Bihar Jharkhand Samaj (BJSM)

Bihar Jharkhand Samaj Perth (BJSM WA) is the Western Australian chapter of the Bihar Jharkhand Sabha of Australia and New Zealand, a vibrant cultural organisation dedicated to preserving and promoting the rich heritage of India's Bihar and Jharkhand states. Established to serve the growing community of Bihari and Jharkhandi expats across Australia and New Zealand, BJSM has become one of the fastest-growing Indian regional associations in the region. The Perth chapter, led by dedicated community volunteers, brings together families and individuals with roots in Bihar and Jharkhand, creating a home away from home for those seeking connection to their cultural identity while building new lives in Western Australia. BJSM Perth offers a comprehensive range of cultural and social programmes designed to strengthen community bonds and support member wellbeing. The organisation hosts traditional cultural celebrations, festivals, and events that showcase the music, dance, cuisine, and customs of Bihar and Jharkhand. Beyond cultural activities, BJSM provides practical settlement assistance for new arrivals, helping Indian expat families navigate the challenges of relocation and integration into Australian society. The organisation facilitates networking opportunities, social gatherings, and community support initiatives that address the unique needs of regional Indian communities in Perth and across Western Australia. For Bihari and Jharkhandi expats living in Perth, BJSM represents more than a cultural organisation — it is a vital lifeline to heritage, language, and shared identity. The association creates spaces where children can learn about their ancestral culture, where families can celebrate festivals with familiar traditions, and where newcomers find guidance and friendship. As part of the broader BJSM network spanning Australia and New Zealand, the Perth chapter connects local members to a trans-Tasman community of thousands, ensuring that the distinctive cultural traditions of Bihar and Jharkhand continue to thrive across generations in the Indian diaspora.
