About
Rajasthani Kutumb of Victoria, known as RAJKOV, was founded in 2001 by seven pioneering Rajasthani families in Melbourne who shared a vision of preserving and celebrating their rich cultural heritage in Australia. What began as an intimate gathering to observe traditional Rajasthani festivals has blossomed into a thriving community of over 300 families. Officially incorporated in 2003, RAJKOV's founding members — including the Jawale, Goyal, Manihar, Panwar, Sharma, and Soni families — laid the foundation for an organisation dedicated to keeping the spirit of Rajasthan, the Land of Kings, alive in the heart of Victoria. RAJKOV serves as the cultural home for Rajasthani expats across Melbourne, offering a diverse array of programmes that honour traditional festivals such as Teej and Gangaur, cultural performances blending Rajasthani roots with contemporary expression, spiritual forums fostering deeper connections, and community gatherings that strengthen bonds among members. The organisation has evolved beyond festival celebrations to encompass broader cultural preservation initiatives, educational activities, and micro-community building efforts that allow members to form meaningful, lasting relationships. Through RAJKOV Global, the organisation extends its reach to past and present members living outside Australia, creating a worldwide network of Rajasthani heritage keepers. For Indian expat families from Rajasthan, RAJKOV represents far more than a cultural association — it is a sanctuary where traditions thrive, languages flourish, and the vibrant tapestry of Rajasthani identity is woven into the multicultural fabric of Australian life. As a recognised member of the Federation of Indian Associations of Victoria, RAJKOV plays a vital role in Melbourne's broader South Asian community, empowering members to celebrate their heritage with pride while building bridges across generations. Whether you are a long-time Melbourne resident or newly arrived from India, RAJKOV offers a welcoming space where Rajasthani culture is not just remembered but lived, shared, and passed forward — your home away from home in Victoria.
