Gamme Kade

Gamme Kade, whose name translates to "village shop" in Sinhala, embodies the spirit of traditional Sri Lankan community stores while serving the diverse South Asian diaspora in Brisbane. Founded with a vision to bridge the culinary and cultural gap for Sri Lankan and Indian expatriates in Queensland, this cherished grocery destination has become a vital link to home for families seeking the authentic flavours and ingredients of the subcontinent. The name itself evokes memories of neighbourhood shops back home, where community connection was as important as commerce. The store offers an extensive range of South Asian groceries including fresh produce, spices, lentils, rice varieties, frozen foods, traditional snacks, and specialty ingredients essential for Sri Lankan, Indian, Tamil, and broader South Asian cooking. Beyond everyday staples, Gamme Kade stocks hard-to-find regional products, festival-specific items, and imported goods that allow expatriate families to recreate authentic home recipes and maintain their culinary traditions. The carefully curated selection reflects deep understanding of the diverse dietary needs and cultural preferences within Brisbane's South Asian community. For Sri Lankan and Indian families in Brisbane, Gamme Kade represents more than a shopping destination—it is a cultural anchor and gathering place where the aromas, languages, and warmth of home come alive. The store serves as an essential resource for maintaining cultural identity through food, enabling parents to pass down traditional recipes to children born abroad and helping newcomers find comfort in familiar tastes. With its strong community reputation and commitment to quality, Gamme Kade has earned its place as a trusted cornerstone of Brisbane's South Asian expat experience, creating a welcoming space where every visit feels like coming home.
